STATEMENT

His work ironically gets back the concept of painting as a trompe l’oeil in a new imaginative way of looking at reality. In their physical vitality, the canvases of Napoli are a sign of contemporaneity but at the same time a tribute to traditional painting. The stratification of material signifies the long cultural and anthropological influence that determines belonging to a “place”, to a community. Actually, this often means being involved in the management of a complex legacy. The past is therefore a significant source, but it is erased and blurred, subverted until it becomes “something else”.

The painting resonates with an echo that inserts darkness into the welcoming warmth of a chalet, in a nocturnal environment populated by countless voices, against which it is not possible to deploy defenses since they do not manifest themselves openly. Gabriele Napoli sets up a playful relationship with the viewer, prompting to ask himself a series of questions with any certain answer. The aim seems being to create an aura of ambiguity and mystery that attracts his interaction.
